Dvořák: Slavonic Dances (Prague Symphony Orchestra) (Opus 46 and Opus 72)

Conducted by Tomáš Brauner, the Prague Symphony Orchestra (Symfonický orchestr hlavního města Prahy FOK) performs Antonín Dvořák’s Slavonic Dances, a series of 16 orchestral pieces written in 1878 and 1886 and published in two sets as Opus 46 and Opus 72 respectively. Rachmaninoff: Symphony No. 2 (Radio Filharmonisch Orkest, Eivind Gullberg Jensen)

Conducted by Eivind Gullberg Jensen, the Dutch Radio Filharmonisch Orkest (Radio Philharmonic Orchestra) plays Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 2 in E minor, Op. 27. Recorded on October 3, 2010, at the Royal Concertgebouw te Amsterdam (Royal Concert Building of Amsterdam).

Stravinsky: The Firebird (Vienna Philharmonic & Gergiev)

Conducted by Valery Gergiev, the Wiener Philharmoniker (Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra) plays Russian composer Igor Stravinsky’s “The Firebird” (French: L’oiseau de feu; Russian: Zhar-ptitsa); a ballet and orchestral concert work, written for the 1910 Paris season of Sergei Diaghilev’s Ballets Russes company, with choreography by Michel Fokine. Recorded during the Salzburg Festival in 2000.
