Written in the first half of the 1740s, Prelude, Fugue, and Allegro in E-flat major, BWV 998, is a musical composition for clavier. The German organist and composer Wilhelm Tappert (19 February 1830 – 27 October 1907) claimed in 1900 that the composition was for lute solo, but present research indicates that this is not the case.
