Fleming and Domingo perform Love Duet from Act I of Verdi’s Otello

American opera singer and soprano Renée Fleming and the legendary Spanish tenor Plácido Domingo perform Love Duet from Act I of Otello, a 1887 opera in four acts by Giuseppe Verdi to an Italian libretto by the Italian poet, journalist, novelist, librettist and composer Arrigo Boito (24 February 1842 – 10 June 1918), based on William Shakespeare’s play Othello (believed to have been written in 1603). Shakespeare: Take, O take those lips away (Voices of Music, soprano: Anna Dennis)

Early music ensemble Voices of Music performs John Wilson’s setting of the song, “Take, O take those lips away,” from Shakespeare’s play “Measure for Measure”. Soprano: Anna Dennis. The second verse, which is not in Shakespeare’s play, is possibly by John Fletcher, although both authors may have used a popular song from the time.

Tchaikovsky – Romeo and Juliet (London Symphony & Gergiev)

The London Symphony Orchestra plays Romeo and Juliet, TH 42, ČW 39, an Overture-Fantasy style orchestral work composed by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. It is based on William Shakespeare’s play of the same name. Conductor: Valery Gergiev. Recorded during the BBC Proms 2007.
