Haydn – Cello Concerto No. 2 (Rostropovich and ASMF)

Arguably, the greatest cellist of the 20th century, Mstislav Rostropovich plays Joseph Haydn’s Concerto No. 2 in D Major for cello and orchestra, Hob. VIIb/2, Op. 101 with the Academy of St. Martin in The Fields. The lead violinist is the greatly talented British violinist Iona Brown (1941-2004). A treasured violinist in her own right, she left us much too early.
