Israel Philharmonic Orchestra celebrates Zubin Mehta’s 80th birthday. Mehta is the Music Director for Life of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra. 1st day: Khatia Buniatishvili performs Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1 and Vladimir Horowitz version of the Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 in C-sharp minor, S.244/2, the second in a set of 19 Hungarian Rhapsodies by composer Franz Liszt. 2nd day: Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in D major, also known as “The Titan”.

Conducted by Zubin Mehta, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra plays Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8 in F Major, Op. 93.

On December 24, 2011, one of the best orchestras in the world today, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, celebrated its 75th Anniversary with a concert conducted by the Indian conductor Zubin Mehta (he is the Music Director for Life of the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra) in Tel Aviv (Hangar 11). They were joined by the internationally-renowned soloists Julian Rachlin, Evgeny Kissin and Vadim Repin in a spectacular programme of Saint-Saens, Bach, Chopin, Chausson and Beethoven.

Evgeny Kissin plays Chopin Piano Concerto No. 1 Op.11

Evgeny Kissin, the Russian-born Russian-British-Israeli classical pianist plays Frédéric Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor, Op. 11. The Israel Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Zubin Mehta.
